August
is the eighth month of the year in the Gregorian Calendar and one
of seven Gregorian months with the length of 31 days.
August
begins (astrologically) with the sun in the sign of Leo and ends
in the sign of Virgo. Astronomically speaking, the sun begins in
the constellation of Cancer and ends in the constellation of Leo.
August
was named in honor of Caesar Augustus. The month reputedly has 31
days because Augustus wanted as many days as Julius Caesar's July.*
Holiday
celebrations are wonderful opportunities for children to learn about
the traditions that are cherished parts of people's lives all over
the world. Please remember that the stories are just a simplified
version of each celebration. As a parent the choice of what holidays
to celebrate is yours, but we hope that a sense of humour blended
with a little knowledge will help us all make peace in this world
by understanding our differences.
Our monthly
Preschool Theme based program with hands-on learning activities
promotes visual
perception, fine
motor and gross
motor development.
