June
is the sixth month of the year in the Gregorian Calendar and one
of four with the length of 30 days.
June
begins (astrologically) with the sun in the sign of Gemini and ends
in the sign of Cancer. Astronomically speaking, the sun begins in
the constellation of Taurus and ends in the constellation of Gemini.
The
month is named for the Roman goddess Juno, wife of Jupiter.*
Holiday celebrations are wonderful opportunities for children to
learn about the traditions that are cherished parts of people's
lives all over the world. Please remember that the stories are just
a simplified version of each celebration. As a parent the choice
of what holidays to celebrate is yours, but we hope that a sense
of humour blended with a little knowledge will help us all make
peace in this world by understanding our differences.
These
activities will help to promote visual
perception, fine
motor and gross
motor development, providing you with ideas to help you prepare
your child for school while having lots of fun together.
